Mentoring
Mentoring is available to anyone who would like to take up umpiring, or qualified umpires who would like support in achieving the next level of your umpiring qualification.
If you are thinking of taking up umpiring, the first step is to book yourself onto an Into Officiating course via Kent Netball. The courses are in high demand, so if you are unable to get booked onto them please register your details on the ‘Umpiring Course Contact List’ and you will be kept informed of upcoming courses by the Kent Netball Secretary.
Once you have attended an Into Officiating course, please contact the MMNL Mentoring Team who will invite you to attend the youth netball training on a Sunday morning 10:00 – 11:30. This will give you the opportunity to practice with the juniors and is a great way to build your confidence. You will then be assessed to ensure that you are ready to umpire in the League, starting in Division 7 on a Wednesday evening, progressing towards your test.
All Mentee Umpires will be allocated a Mentor who will support, nurture and guide them. Mentors are there to assist with your development and ensure that you are ready for your umpiring test. They will guide you throughout the process from start to finish.
The Mentoring Team consists of Tessa Jones, Natalie Northover and Carol Parlour. Carol is the hub of the team, organising all of the fixtures for the Mentees and is the direct point of contact. Tessa and Carol mentor the IO Award Umpires and Natalie mentors IO and C Award Umpires.
The Mentoring Team are always available to support you, even after your test.
Once you have achieved your Into Officiating (IO) Award, or if you currently hold a Beginner Award and would like to take the next step to becoming a C Award umpire, please get in touch with a member of the Mentoring Team and they will do their best to accommodate you.
